It provides legal expertise to ensure justice and public safety. Operating independently, the division evaluates evidence, decides on charges, and represents cases in court, maintaining integrity and impartiality in the legal process. The candidates selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Secondary school graduation
Experience: Candidates should have at least one year of administrative experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience working in the criminal justice sector

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have successful completion of a recognized Legal Assistant certificate or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience and office experience working in a confidential capacity
  • The candidates should have experience managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and making travel arrangements
  • The candidates should have experience typing, drafting, formatting, proofreading, and editing a variety of documents
  • The candidates should have experience developing and maintaining administrative systems, procedures, and standards
  • The candidates should have successful completion of a Legal Assistant or Paralegal certificate or equivalent
  • The candidates should have at least one year of recent experience (within the last 3 years) working as a Legal Assistant in a legal office
  • The candidates should have recent experience (within the last 3 years) working for the BC Prosecution Service

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide support to Crown Counsel on prosecution case files in preparation for court proceedings
  • The candidates should be able to perform a variety of legal services under the supervision of Crown Counsel and the Office Manager
  • The candidates should be able to work in a high-profile and fast-paced office environment
  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate flexibility, teamwork, tact, diplomacy, communication, and organization skills
  • The candidates should be able to ensure efficient, accurate, successful, and timely completion of responsibilities
