Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience in customer service

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be available to work various shifts
  • The candidates should have the physical ability to lift mail items weighing up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry items weighing up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) regularly throughout the day
  • The candidates should be able to work in all types of weather

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be willing to work inside a sorting facility, sorting mail and packages
  • The candidates should be capable of operating material handling equipment
  • The candidates should be responsible for receiving and accepting mail items
  • The candidates should be skilled in sorting, scanning, sequencing, and batching mail items
  • The candidates should be able to handle transfers and dispatching of parcels and packets
  • The candidates should be prepared to perform other postal clerk duties as required
  • The candidates should be able to complete reports and documentation
  • The candidates should possess a valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s license with a safe driving record for at least 3 years (driver’s abstract required)
  • The candidates should have the availability to be on-call, possibly in evenings and weekends
  • The candidates should have experience making deliveries or working as a driver
  • The candidates should have experience working in a production environment, which is considered an asset

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to begin their day at the depot, sorting and preparing the day’s deliveries efficiently
  • The candidates should be able to load and operate a Canada Post postal vehicle to transport deliveries
  • The candidates should be able to spend the majority of their day outdoors, delivering mail and packages either by foot or vehicle to customers along their designated route
  • The candidates should be able to return to the depot to unload incoming mail and packages at the end of the day, readying them for subsequent deliveries
