Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should follow safe work practices and maintain high safety standards and be computer literate and familiar with using electronic diagnostic equipment
- The candidates should be physically capable of performing the job, including lifting up to 70lbs, reaching, squatting, bending, climbing step ladders, sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods
- The candidates should be reliable self-starters who can prioritize tasks based on changing demands and work independently or with minimal supervision
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess a valid Truck and Coach Technician License (310T) and experience working with diesel engines, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- The candidates should hold a valid class G Ontario driver’s license in good standing and provide and maintain all necessary mechanic’s hand tools
- The candidates should be knowledgeable in WHMIS and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- The candidates should be familiar with various computer and electronic diagnostic equipment and possess keyboarding skills
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to perform routine preventative maintenance inspections and mandatory government safety inspections on all vehicles serviced at the Transit Service Centre located at 400 Grand River Avenue
- The candidates should be able to maintain a safe and clean work environment while assisting in diagnosing and performing mechanical or structural repairs on various types of light and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment
- The candidates should be able to work with hydraulic, electrical, air conditioning, and air control systems, applying relevant knowledge to maintenance and repairs
- The candidates should be able to perform tasks requiring heavy lifting and various levels of standing, climbing, sitting, twisting, crouching, and kneeling
