Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completed Grade 10 education
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be at least 15 years of age
- The candidates should possess a current National Lifeguard Pool certificate and current Lifesaving Instructor certificate, which is an asset
- The candidates should possess a current Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certificate, Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certificates
- The candidates should possess a current Oxygen Therapy or LSS Airway Management certificate and have completed AODA Accessibility/IASR Training
- The candidates should be familiar with City of Ottawa and Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services departmental policies, guidelines, and directives
- The candidates should be knowledgeable about City of Ottawa emergency response procedures
- The candidates should be able to handle the stress of an emergency situation
- The candidates should possess excellent public relations skills and strong interpersonal skills
- The candidates should work well in a team environment and be reliable
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to perform surveillance necessary to prevent accidents in the Recreation, Cultural, and Facility Services department by administering policies, procedures, rules, and regulations governing the conduct of patrons using the pool
- The candidates should be able to perform rescues and administer first aid necessary for the preservation of life in a team setting
