Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be legally entitled to work in Canada and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with a vulnerable sector search
- The candidates should provide and maintain a satisfactory Adult Abuse Registry Check and Child Abuse Registry Check and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s Licence
- The candidates should be physically capable of performing duties related to the position, including lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., standing and walking on uneven ground for long periods, bending, crouching, and crawling in confined spaces
- The candidates should be physically capable of traveling (on gravel and winter ice roads, by small aircraft or float planes, and boat) within the designated area
- The candidates should be able to work on-call, including rotating evening and weekend shifts and ability to work effectively under pressure with minimal supervision
- The candidates should have the ability to complete inspection reports and document follow-up information on work orders
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have experience performing minor or major renovations and maintenance repairs, including carpentry (installation, removal, and repairs), plumbing related to faucets, toilets, water, and sewers; painting; mechanical equipment and appliance repair; and heating system repair
- The candidates should have experience working within safety policies and procedures and strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize critical issues and operate effectively within limited timeframes
- The candidates should possess superior customer service skills with the ability to deal effectively with tenants and the public
- The candidates should have strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions in a dynamic environment
- The candidates should have effective verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders and be proficient in using Microsoft Outlook
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to complete maintenance tasks within an assigned portfolio, ensuring adherence to Manitoba Housing’s policies, procedures, and guidelines
- The candidates should be able to perform regular inspections and prepare scopes of work for necessary maintenance repairs
- The candidates should be able to maintain inventories of materials, supplies, and equipment to ensure proper resources are available for maintenance tasks
- The candidates should be able to prepare and submit required documentation related to maintenance activities, tenant concerns, and any other relevant tasks to the Supervisor
- The candidates should be able to manage operational duties as assigned by management, including addressing tenant requests and ensuring the timely resolution of maintenance issues
- The candidates should be able to identify potential maintenance needs and escalate issues as necessary to maintain the quality of the housing portfolio
