Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience in a facility operations environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be proficient ice skaters, demonstrate exceptional customer service skills
  • The candidates should be able to deal effectively with the public and work with minimal supervision
  • The candidates should possess good leadership and interpersonal skills, knowledge of cleaning procedures
  • The candidates should have Emergency First Aid and/or CPR certification and knowledge of WHMIS

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to effectively patrol public skating sessions, prioritizing the safety of all patrons while encouraging a fun and leisurely environment, monitor and manage access to public skating areas
  • The candidates should be able to skate among participants to ensure compliance with safety guidelines and provide a visible staff presence, enforce all safety rules and regulations in a respectful and proactive manner
  • The candidates should be able to assist with the maintenance and cleaning of community centre and arena facilities, including pools, fitness areas (if applicable), meeting rooms, lobbies, washrooms, change rooms, viewing areas, and stairways
  • The candidates should be able to move and secure hockey nets safely and efficiently, prepare and clean the ice resurfacing machine
  • The candidates should be able to perform pool vacuuming and related cleaning tasks, carry out other duties as assigned in support of facility operations
