Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a degree in Planning, Architecture, or a related discipline
Experience: Candidates should have at least 10 years of experience in engineering, urban design

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a degree in Engineering with at least 10 years of relevant professional engineering experience obtained after receiving their P. Eng. designation and should hold a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status, OR should obtain licensure and practicing status by the first day of work
  • The candidates should have at least 8 years of experience leading large teams and managing or delivering infrastructure or planning projects
  • The candidates should possess a master’s degree in a related technical field or in business administration (MBA)
  • The candidates should have experience and demonstrated success in creating and executing a strategic vision and direction for a complex organization or division, ideally in a service-based environment
  • The candidates should have public sector experience, particularly municipal government experience in a large, multi-union environment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide guidance, leadership, and strategic oversight for the portfolio of capital investments within the division and service lines
  • The candidates should be able to act as the executive sponsor and sponsor for transportation and open space studies and projects, including the development of plans and strategies while considering trends, risks, and impacts on internal and external stakeholders
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate across the organization and with senior leadership to identify opportunities, challenges, trends, and growth strategies to advance transportation and open space projects
  • The candidates should be able to make informed recommendations for capital investments and projects and present specialized information clearly to interested parties
  • The candidates should be able to build collaborative partnerships with external parties, such as local community groups, advocacy organizations, and industry partners, to leverage resources and support project initiatives
  • The candidates should be able to lead a diverse team by fostering innovation, monitoring performance expectations, and providing effective oversight and support for team activities
