Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a valid Marine Medical Certificate
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to solve problems independently and manage time effectively

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience working within the Marine Industry in the capacity of Cook
  • The candidates should possess a Cook certificate recognized by a province or a training certificate indicating successful completion of a cooking course
  • The candidates should have a valid Food Safety and Handling Certificate, Marine Basic First Aid Certificate and MEDs SCTW Basic Safety certification
  • The candidates should have knowledge of working within the Marine Industry in the capacity of Cook
  • The candidates should have knowledge of food safety and handling practices and computer skills
  • The candidates should have a commitment to safety and client-service oriented
  • The candidates should provide a Certificate of Conduct and the Vulnerable Sector Query satisfactory to the Employer
  • The candidates should participate in any safety course training as offered and required by the Department

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to prepare and serve meals for crew members and use a computer in the function of their duties
  • The candidates should be able to maintain the galley and related items and equipment, including associated housekeeping duties
  • The candidates should be able to maintain food inventory, including the required handling and storage of food items
  • The candidates should be able to reconcile food purchase receipts on the online financial management system
  • The candidates should be able to handle P-card purchasing and P-card vouchers, ensuring second signatures are received for food verification orders
  • The candidates should be able to use the Oracle system to complete P-card receipt processing
  • The candidates should be able to stand watch and maintain the cleanliness of the vessel and its equipment in the coastal waters of Newfoundland and Labrador
  • The candidates should be able to perform emergency, fire safety duties and other related duties
