Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of be enrolled in or have completed a post-secondary program in Culinary Arts or a related discipline
Experience: Candidates should have previous teaching experience in an educational setting

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess strong organizational, planning, time management, and leadership skills
  • The candidates should have the ability to be flexible and adapt instructional practices to diverse audiences and work independently

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have demonstrated abilities and a strong knowledge of cooking and be familiar with a broad range of techniques, practices, and materials, with expertise in one or more of the following areas: baking, canning, cooking, meal planning, table setting and etiquette, and world dishes
  • The candidates should have experience developing lesson and activity plans, a Safe Food Handling Certification and Emergency First Aid with AED/CPR B certification
  • The candidates should have a HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) certification, required for instructing children’s programs ages 4-12 years
  • The candidates should provide a satisfactory police vulnerable sector check, dated within the last 30 days, at their own expense if they are new hires or have not previously performed in this position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to develop program-specific curriculum, prepare, and teach culinary classes in the Community Kitchen for children (10-12 years), youth, and adults
  • The candidates should be able to assist in researching and developing appropriate culinary programming for beginner and practicing cooks, ensuring activities are safe, creative, and inclusive
  • The candidates should be able to provide a positive learning and recreational experience for all participants
  • The candidates should be able to follow food, health, and workplace safety standards while adhering to all Health and Safety procedures
  • The candidates should be able to ensure that all program participants follow safe food handling practices and maintain the kitchen facility and equipment in good working order
