Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should hold an ECE diploma
Experience: Candidates should have 2 and 4 years of experience in a leadership capacity in a daycare or recreation setting

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should have additional courses in recreation, sport, or other related training and 1-2 years of experience in a volunteer preschool, education, or recreational setting
  • The candidate should possess Emergency First Aid with AED/CPR B or Standard First Aid with AED/CPR C certification
  • The candidate should have strong interpersonal and communication skills, including both written and verbal abilities
  • The candidate should have experience in the development and implementation of age-appropriate activities
  • The candidate should demonstrate effective child management skills and show enthusiasm and passion for working with preschool-aged children
  • The candidate should provide a satisfactory criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening, dated within the last 30 days, as a condition of employment (required for new hires or those not previously in this position)
  • The candidate should have the HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) certification

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to deliver a program of daily activities that are safe, creative, age-appropriate, and inclusive of all program participants
  • The candidates should be able to prepare weekly activity plans for program planning, ensuring they are ready for approval and distribution to participants
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with staff to create and deliver an optimal program for preschool participants and ensure the continued safety of all program participants at all times
  • The candidates should be able to respond to emergency situations and manage behavior issues following department-approved procedures
  • The candidates should be able to perform administrative duties, including attendance tracking, registration updates, maintaining medical cards, and preparing incident reports
  • The candidates should be able to provide excellent customer service by updating parents guardians, supporting new parents, and being available for other programs and services
  • The candidates should be able to attend mandatory staff training sessions and perform other duties
