Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of mechanical experience in underground mining operations

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to maintain a strong safety focus, work independently with self-motivation

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be diagnose, repair, maintain, and overhaul mobile mining equipment and obtain accreditation in specialty modules
  • The candidates should hold an Ontario or inter-provincial trade qualification, be accredited in underground (U/G) common core modules

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to check mobile mining equipment for proper performance and inspect for faults and malfunctions
  • The candidates should be able to perform equipment removal, installation, alignment, troubleshooting, and repair
  • The candidates should be able to diagnose faults using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of required repairs
  • The candidates should be able to interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics accurately and adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems using hand and power tools
  • The candidates should be able to test repaired equipment to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers’ specifications
  • The candidates should be able to clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance on equipment and perform repair work on heavy trucks and attach components and adjust new equipment
  • The candidates should be able to open work orders, locate parts, and complete parts lists using all available resources
  • The candidates should be able to perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Mobile Maintenance
