Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Social Work, Psychology and Counselling
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have the ability to provide effective case management with experience in both individual and group counselling
- The candidates should have the ability to provide effective screening, mental health and addiction bio-psycho-social assessments, treatment planning, and case formulations while working from a harm reduction and client, family or community-centred service delivery model
- The candidates should have the ability to work collaboratively with community partners and stakeholders to build capacity and develop and deliver responsible community and cultural programming
- The candidates should have an understanding of and adherence to a harm-reduction, two-eyed seeing, and trauma-informed approach to client care
- The candidates should have knowledge and the ability to work within the stages of change model, adapting interactions to support engagement and the wellness of clients
- The candidates should have the ability to complete and maintain comprehensive clinical records and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have considerable experience providing individual and group counselling in a mental health or social service setting
- The candidates should have experience providing case management services and experience with crisis intervention and risk assessments
- The candidates should have experience building partnerships and collaborating with First Nation Government and other community partners in a social service setting
- The candidates should have an understanding of collaborative healthcare delivery systems and the continuum of services available to clients at different stages of their lives
- The candidates should have effective written and oral communication skills, supported by strong conflict resolution skills and provide verification of post-secondary degree(s)
- The candidates should obtain a Vulnerable Sector RCMP Security clearance, complete WHMIS 2015 training within one month of hire and complete TB screening and first aid training within 6 months of starting the position
- The candidates should possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent and be available for regular travel to surrounding communities to provide support services
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to provide client-centered assessment and treatment planning, case management services, harm reduction support, individual and group counseling, and community workshops
- The candidates should be able to facilitate referrals to specialty services both in and out of the territory
- The candidates should be able to work collaboratively as part of MWSU’s multidisciplinary team in Dawson and surrounding areas, including counsellors, mental health nurses, and support workers
- The candidates should be able to ensure professional and cultural supports or services are in place to support clients’ wellness journeys
- The candidates should be able to liaise with MWSU colleagues, community partners, First Nation Governments, and specialty services to facilitate wrap-around support and access to care
- The candidates should be able to work both independently and as part of a supportive, diverse, multidisciplinary team
- The candidates should be able to apply a strengths-based approach and support individuals on their healing journeys
- The candidates should be able to thrive in a setting that adheres to best practice standards, upholds ethical standards, and prioritizes inclusive practice, cultural awareness, and humility
- The candidates should be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to continual personal and professional growth
