Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of High-school graduation
Experience: Candidates should have minimum of 1 to 2 years experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, growing work environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have related post-secondary training completion of specialized training or certification requiring up to 2 years of education
  • The candidates should have a thorough understanding of mining equipment and computer programs such as AutoCAD and the ability to read, generate, and understand maps and printouts
  • The candidates should demonstrate an understanding of ventilation requirements, procedures, and equipment and the ability to do audits in the field
  • The candidates should be self-starters who can anticipate needs and work independently with minimal supervision
  • The candidates should have demonstrated a high level of energy, self-motivation, and strong organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • The candidates should have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to facilitate commitment to a cooperative team
  • The candidates should have good communication skills, both orally and written, with both internal and external contacts, and the ability to work with all levels of the organization

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to work with close supervision to complete moderately complex technical activities for the engineering department and ensure the accurate and timely processing of all activities related to engineering in mine operations
  • The candidates should be able to monitor the performance of the main ventilation system, provide input into required upgrades to infrastructure, and perform troubleshooting and conduct mine ventilation surveys and maintain accurate ventilation plans for use in planning, operations, and emergency situations
  • The candidates should be able to monitor and instruct supervisors and miners regarding the quality of ground control installation and provide operations with blast clearing instructions to ensure blast gases are cleared in a timely manner
  • The candidates should be able to train other technicians on how to use equipment, file naming conventions, ventilation protocols and standards, and task scheduling and survey ground control installation to ensure it meets design specifications and follow up with the underground department and engineering
  • The candidates should be able to follow established policies and procedures related to engineering and comply with established methodologies and quality standards and answer queries and handle requests related to engineering
  • The candidates should be able to escalate issues requiring advanced expertise or knowledge about the broader business impact of decisions
  • The candidates should be able to prepare standard reports and complete documentation related to engineering and assist with special projects related to engineering
  • The candidates should be able to maintain records for the engineering department, ensuring they are up to date, accurate, and produced on time
  • The candidates should be able to maintain reference materials according to regulations and policies and enter engineering data into the information system
