Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should possess an Ontario Powered Lift Truck Technician (Ontario #282E) certification
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work at heights up to 45 feet, stand for long periods with occasional laying, stooping, and crouching, and frequently lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be an Automotive Service Technician (Ontario #310S) with relevant experience
  • The candidates should be a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (Ontario #421A) with relevant experience
  • The candidates should have a background or experience in electrical systems or electronics and demonstrated experience in vehicle repair and troubleshooting, which is an asset
  • The candidates should have experience with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), which is an asset

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to repair all warehouse mobile equipment, including counterbalance, turret, reach and tugger trucks, propane-powered scissor lifts/booms, and automated guided vehicles (AGVs)
  • The candidates should be able to perform service and preventative maintenance on all mobile equipment within the D.C.
  • The candidates should be able to maintain parts and work records on the computerized maintenance system (MAXIMO)
  • The candidates should be able to troubleshoot mobile equipment and systems using schematics, detailed drawings, or manufacturer’s specifications
  • The candidates should be able to troubleshoot and repair electric motors and combustion engines, electrical battery charging systems and mobile equipment charging distribution systems, electrical vehicle control systems, vehicle power trains (power shift transmissions, torque converters, pumps, and linkages), brake systems, steering systems, hydraulic systems, load masts and systems, and Automated Guided Vehicle controls and power systems
  • The candidates should be able to read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
  • The candidates should be able to operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks, and lift trucks to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up, and repair of mobile equipment
  • The candidates should be able to inspect and examine mobile equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions
  • The candidates should be able to assist in other Maintenance department repairs as required while working in a safe and effective manner and adhere to all safety policies and procedures
  • The candidates should be able to respond to truck breakdowns in a timely manner and perform repairs with minimal supervision, taking responsibility and decision-making to see the job to completion within time demands
  • The candidates should be able to follow Maintenance Quality and Standard Operating Procedures as established
  • The candidates should be able to work Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for 2 weeks and then Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday on the 3rd week (7:00pm-7:00am)
