Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of university degree in Civil Engineering
Experience: Candidates should have at least five years of related experience in transportation and civil engineering

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be registered with or eligible to obtain membership with APEGA and hold a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • The candidates should demonstrate extensive project management skills and experience working on publicly funded transportation projects
  • The candidates should have experience leading project teams with Engineering Consultants and contractors
  • The candidates should have contract administration experience and meet the requirement of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to coordinate, review, and administer engineering consultants to complete the design, tendering, and construction of highway projects in alignment with national codes, Department guidelines, and technical standards
  • The candidates should be able to provide support in the planning and programming of Departmental projects to ensure strategic objectives are met
  • The candidates should be able to administer Consultant Engineering Agreements, ensuring compliance with project scope, cost, time, and quality standards
  • The candidates should be able to offer technical expertise in highway engineering, including design standards, construction practices, right-of-way acquisition, and utility coordination
  • The candidates should be able to monitor consultants and contractors by conducting regular construction inspections to ensure safety and quality compliance
  • The candidates should be able to assist with in-house design, tendering, and project management initiatives within the Department
  • The candidates should be able to participate in preliminary planning processes and propose solutions to challenges involving major changes in construction procedures
  • The candidates should be able to foster collaboration with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to build strong professional networks and ensure successful project delivery
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to a safe work environment by following regulations and Departmental policies throughout project execution
