Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completed an approved Nurse Practitioner program
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five years of clinical nursing experience within the last seven years in adult acute care medicine services
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to constantly move, lift, or operate equipment or machinery weighing up to 10 lbs. and regularly lift or move equipment, books, and supplies. Occasionally, they may need to reposition patients weighing over 50 lbs
- The candidates should be prepared to exert physical effort, including regular sitting for patient histories, computer work, and patient assessments, and regularly standing or walking
- The candidates should have the ability to perform procedures using fine finger and precision work, as well as hand tools medical instruments, computer mouse, stethoscope, dopplers, requiring accurate control and steadiness
- The candidates should demonstrate strong visual concentration skills when performing physical assessments, procedures, completing charts or reports, observing patients, reading equipment or monitors, and completing work-related correspondence on the computer
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should hold current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of NL and be licensed (or eligible for licensure) as a Nurse Practitioner (Family/All Ages or Adult) with the CRNNL
- The candidates should have current BCLS Certification, with a preference for current ACLS certification or the ability to obtain it upon acceptance of the position
- The candidates should possess strong abilities in collaboration, clinical reasoning, professional development, interpersonal effectiveness, conflict management, and teamwork
- The candidates should demonstrate progressive clinical leadership skills and strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and teaching skills
- The candidates should be able to function autonomously in an advanced practice role and participate in research to improve practice and client outcomes
- The candidates should have skills in computer and database management and a satisfactory record of work performance
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to work within the Nurse Practitioner’s (NP) scope of practice in the Family or All Ages or Adult category, providing advanced, professional, and autonomous healthcare services
- The candidates should be able to conduct comprehensive health assessments, diagnose diseases, disorders, injuries, and conditions, and manage health risks within a holistic care model
- The candidates should be able to provide diagnostic treatment, patient education, and follow-up care for individuals with acute and chronic illnesses
- The candidates should be able to work collaboratively within an interprofessional team, addressing patient needs identified through ongoing assessment and monitoring
- The candidates should be able to contribute to the management of acute and chronic diseases through evidence-based treatment and holistic patient care strategies
