Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program
Experience: Candidates should have experience working as an Occupational Therapist in a community setting
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be registered with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT)
- The candidates should be trained in Connect Care and be authorized under Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL)
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to provide evidence-informed services focused on occupational performance to meet the needs of individuals, groups, or communities
- The candidates should be able to act as a direct service provider, consultant, educator, or advocate while functioning as integral health care team members
- The candidates should be able to engage individuals, groups, and communities in enabling meaningful and chosen occupations, including self-care, productivity, and leisure
- The candidates should be able to support clients in achieving optimal functional abilities and independence, considering their cognitive, affective, spiritual, and physical strengths and limitations
- The candidates should be able to deliver comprehensive services, including triage, screening, consultation, assessment, diagnosis, collaborative goal setting, treatment, prevention, self-management, education, case management, referral, and transition support
- The candidates should be able to collaborate with clients and families to determine, implement, and evaluate rehabilitation plans
- The candidates should be able to include clients and families as active participants in all aspects of care as integral health care team members
- The candidates should be able to participate in interprofessional teams to raise awareness, provide support, and engage in quality improvement initiatives
- The candidates should be able to partner with healthcare providers, patients, families, and other stakeholders to advance client services
- The candidates should be able to contribute to quality improvement efforts, professional community development, and peer mentoring, including supervising students and provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants and Therapy Aides
