Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program
Experience: Candidates should considerable experience in the relevant field

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT)

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to coordinate occupational therapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area and should be able to provide supervision of students and team members as assigned
  • The candidates should be able to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals
  • The candidates should be able to make day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge, and follow-up
  • The candidates should be able to make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient, and effective client care
  • The candidates should be able to ensure occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics, and AHS policy and guidelines
  • The candidates should be able to provide coordination of the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area, monitor care delivery, identify service needs, assist other medical staff with caseload management, complete chart audits, and provide follow-up and feedback to staff
  • The candidates should be able to participate in program development and operational planning and represent the department on committees or programs
  • The candidates should be able to make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers
  • The candidates should be able to carry out the roles of a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator, and/or advocate in their program or service area as assigned
