Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy
Experience: Candidates should have experience working with patients of all ages, from pediatrics to seniors

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program with related experience
  • The candidates should be active or eligible for registration and a practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT)

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide supervision of students and team members  and work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals
  • The candidates should be able to make day-to-day clinical decisions regarding patient, family needs, including assessment, intervention, discharge, and follow-up and make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases while providing clinical leadership within the program or service area
  • The candidates should be able to ensure occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and aligned with Alberta legislation, professional standards, the code of ethics, and AHS policy and guidelines
  • The candidates should be able to coordinate the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area, monitor care delivery, identify service needs, and assist medical staff with caseload management and complete chart audits and provide follow-up and feedback to staff
  • The candidates should be able to participate in program development and operational planning while representing the department on committees or programs
  • The candidates should be able to make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers and fulfill roles as a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator, and advocate in their program or service area
