Salary: $16.00 to $19.00 hourly (To be negotiated) for 80 hours bi-weekly
Employment Type: Permanent employment Full time
Location: Kentville, NS
Shifts: Day, Weekend, Morning
Transportation information: Own transportation
Work setting: Rural area, hardware store, and retail business

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 7 months
Area of specialization: Building materials (other than lumber), paint, and wallpaper

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to perform bending, crouching, and kneeling as needed
  • The candidates should be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work under pressure
  • The candidates should be capable of handling repetitive tasks and comfortable standing for extended periods
  • The candidates should possess manual dexterity and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail
  • The candidates should have the ability to distinguish between colors, be able to meet tight deadlines, and be able to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to operate computerized inventory record-keeping and re-ordering systems
  • The candidates should be able to provide advice about merchandise and assist in the display of merchandise
  • The candidates should be able to estimate or quote prices, credit or contract terms, warranties, and delivery dates
  • The candidates should be able to greet customers and discuss the type, quality, and quantity of merchandise or services sought for purchase, rental, or lease
  • The candidates should be able to maintain sales records for inventory control and prepare merchandise for purchase, rental, or lease
  • The candidates should be able to select appropriate paint or mix paints
  • The candidates should be able to provide customer service and advertise and/or promote products, sales, or services
