Work setting: Work in employer’s/client’s home, Various locations, Urban area

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 2 years to less than 3 years
Credentials: Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Certificate, Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) Certificate, Behaviour management Certification, Community disability studies Certificate, Developmental services worker (DSW) Training, Understanding and managing aggressive behavior (UMAB) course, CPR Certificate, First Aid Certificate, Health Care Aide Certificate, Personal Support Worker Certificate

Physical Requirements:

• The candidates should be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, be physically demanding, and a repetitive tasker
• The candidates should be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, crouch, and kneel for extended periods
• The candidates should be able to handle weight Up to 23 kg (50 lbs, 9 kg (20 lbs), 13.5 kg (30 lbs), and 45 kg (100 lbs)
• The candidates should be able to handle heavy loads
• The candidates should be able to work in a non-smoking area

Other Requirements:

• The candidate should be punctual, client focus, dependable, organized, initiative, flexible, reliable, and judgmental
• The candidates should have excellent oral communication, efficient interpersonal skills, and be able to work as a team player

Candidate Status:

• Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
• Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
• If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

• The candidates should be able to care for pets, administer bedside and personal care, administer medications, assist clients in water (i.e. pool)
• The candidates should be able to assist clients with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene, assist in regular exercise, e.g., walk, assume full responsibility for household (in absence of householder)
• The candidates should be able to change non-sterile dressings, feed or assist in feeding, launder clothing and household linens
• The candidates should be able to perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties
• The candidates should be able to plan therapeutic diets and menus, provide companionship
• The candidates should be able to provide personal care, shop for food and household supplies
• The candidates should be able to prepare and serve nutritious meals
