Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of University degree in Environmental Science, Earth Science or Civil Engineering
Experience: Candidates should have experience in soil and groundwater sampling

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should preferably be accredited as a P. Geo. or P. Eng., but it is not a requirement for this position
  • The candidates should have experience with geo-environmental investigations, including geotechnical, excess soil, hydrogeological investigations and with Phase I and II environmental site assessment and remediation
  • The candidates should be familiar with O. Reg. 406/19 On-Site and Excess Soil Management and O. Reg. 153/04 Record of Site Condition and familiar with spill response techniques and technologies
  • The candidates should have experience with environmental due diligence for mergers and acquisitions of real estate and civil environmental topics such as subsurface drainage systems, oil water separators, overland flow principles, and contaminant fate, transport modeling, federal and provincial environmental regulations
  • The candidates should possess knowledge of electrical power systems, transmission, distribution equipment and environmental economics is beneficial
  • The candidates should be familiar with contract processes and documents, work plans, presentations, technical reports and with designated substance and hazardous material (DSHM) surveys, PCBs, mold, and asbestos abatement
  • The candidates should have experience with Phase I and II environmental site assessments, remediation and proficient in conducting designated substance and hazardous material (DSHM) surveys
  • The candidates should be able to assimilate information quickly and apply the skills to various situations and skilled in preparing work plans, specifications, and reports
  • The candidates should understand the business implications of decisions and strive to improve organizational performance and project management life cycle and build persuasive arguments based on logic and fact
  • The candidates should have knowledge and experience in planning and implementing environmental site assessments, geotechnical investigations, hydrogeological investigations, remediation, and excess soil management

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to manage geo-environmental studies for Hydro One construction projects as part of the Land Assessment and Remediation (LAR) Team
  • The candidates should be able to manage emergency spill response as part of the Spills Team
  • The candidates should be able to support the project team by managing soil and groundwater studies, preparing soil and water management plans, and supporting project execution monitoring at key stages of the project lifecycle
  • The candidates should be able to member of the on-call team for emergency spill response
  • The candidates should be able to develop geo-environmental scopes of work, prepare tender documents, determine budget requirements, and participate on project teams and other working groups
  • The candidates should be able to manage environmental consultants assigned to their projects
  • The candidates should be able to assist in database management and provide training and technical assistance
