Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of a university degree in a Community Planning, Public Policy, Economics or Business Administration
Experience: Candidates should have combined with several years of professional experience
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have proven experience in developing urban planning policy in a multi-stakeholder environment, including utilizing conflict resolution and interest-based mediation skills to achieve mutually agreeable solutions
- The candidates should have proven ability to clearly communicate complex issues through Council reports and presentations or comparable documentation and presentations
- The candidates should have demonstrated ability to analyze and summarize quantitative and qualitative information and the ability to supervise and mentor staff
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess closely related to the duties of the position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- The candidates should be eligible for or hold membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners and proven experience in building and maintaining relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders involved in local economic development
- The candidates should have strong organizational and project management skills and the ability to interpret and apply city policy, by-laws, and the Vancouver Charter
- The candidates should have proven experience managing and implementing urban planning public and stakeholder engagement initiatives, with experience engaging equity-denied communities and small businesses
- The candidates should have the ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment in managing workloads and shifting priorities while delivering complex projects on time and within budget
- The candidates should have proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and the flexibility to shift between projects and general knowledge of City by-laws, processes, and policies
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to scope, prepare, and manage project work plans related to community planning policy and programs, ensuring accountability for deliverables and adherence to timelines
- The candidates should be able to conduct comprehensive project management and implement public, stakeholder, and community engagement initiatives effectively
- The candidates should be able to perform policy research, analyze data, and prepare Council reports
- The candidates should be able to convene and collaborate with technical and citizen advisory and stakeholder groups to support policy planning initiatives
- The candidates should be able to prepare and disseminate communication materials to ensure clear and effective messaging
- The candidates should be able to facilitate meetings and present to staff, management, external stakeholders, and City Council
- The candidates should be able to supervise staff and consultants to achieve project goals and perform other duties and responsibilities
