Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 5 years or more
Area of specialization: Agricultural livestock service, and Poultry
Equipment and machinery experience: Automated manure handling or storage system, Egg gathering system, Feeding and watering system, Storage and silage system, Tractor, Farm truck, Loader, Manure spreader, Tillage equipment, Welding, and Hand tools
Automated systems experience: Bulk grain or feed handling – automated, Automated environmental control equipment, and Manure handling and storage
Own tools/equipment: Safety equipment/gear, Steel-toed safety boots, and Gloves
Security and safety: Criminal record check, Medical exam, and Credit check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience in broiler and other meat-type chicken production and be familiar with chicken farming practices, including knowledge of layer poultry farming
  • The candidates should be comfortable working outdoors, capable of working at heights, and able to work in confined spaces
  • The candidates should be aware of potential hazards and able to work safely in dangerous environments, tolerate dusty conditions, and work in hot, noisy, and odorous environments
  • The candidates should be willing to work in wet or damp conditions and cold or refrigerated environments, and have experience with livestock and poultry and egg production
  • The candidates should be able to work in all weather conditions and be comfortable working in dirty environments
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment, capable of meeting tight deadlines and managing a large workload efficiently
  • The candidates should be physically fit, able to handle demanding tasks, heavy loads, and perform repetitive tasks efficiently, with attention to detail
  • The candidates should be comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, possessing hand-eye coordination for precise tasks and the ability to distinguish between colors accurately
  • The candidates should be willing to work overtime when required, with sound discrimination skills, and the capability to sit for extended periods as necessary, and perform bending, crouching, and kneeling tasks as required

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, possessing efficient interpersonal skills for effective communication and exhibiting excellent written communication abilities
  • The candidates should be organized in managing tasks and responsibilities, working effectively as part of a team to foster collaboration and demonstrate flexibility in adapting to changing circumstances

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to handle animals, monitor their health, and assist in feeding and tending to them
  • The candidates should be able to assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures, ensuring they are followed, and maintaining livestock performance records
  • The candidates should be capable of recognizing and treating certain livestock health problems, supervising growing and crop-related operations, and performing general farm duties
  • The candidates should be proficient in operating and maintaining farm machinery and equipment, providing agricultural livestock services, and maintaining quality control and production records
  • The candidates should be able to weed, clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens, and set and monitor water lines, air flow, and temperature in barns, pens, and chicken coops
  • The candidates should be able to feed inventory, maintain work records and logs, detect disease and health problems in crops, livestock, and poultry, and write daily basic progress reports
