Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of graduated from high school
Experience: Candidates should have experience in Emergency Care
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should regularly lift and move patients and equipment between 25-50 lbs and be involved in heavy lifting, pushing or pulling of stretchers 100 lbs and patients
- The candidates should constantly stand, bend, stretch, kneel, or push and pull sometimes in small and cramped spaces
- The candidates should constantly require visual concentration or alertness to drive ambulances, complete site and patient assessments, and administer medications. Regularly, there are time pressures in the pre-hospital emergency setting
- The candidates should regularly experience a lack of control over work pace due to unpredictable situations during a medical emergency or unpredictable call volume
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have completed the Primary Care Paramedic Program or have an equivalent qualification
- The candidates should be registered with the Provincial Medical Oversight Program and a satisfactory record of work performance
- The candidates should possess a valid Class 4 Driver’s License as issued by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to operate an ambulance in response to emergencies and routine calls
- The candidates should be able to provide skilled basic and advanced emergency care to individuals suffering from various illnesses and injuries
- The candidates should be able to assess, stabilize, and report on the nature and severity of illnesses or injuries
- The candidates should be able to work independently and ensure their work is reviewed through observation and examination of records or reports and report directly to the Operations Supervisors
