Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Post secondary education in social sciences
Experience: Candidates should have experience in community networking

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should obtain and maintain a satisfactory Enhanced Internal Security Screening Level IV
  • The candidates should provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and provide a satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check
  • The candidates should have the ability to travel and the ability to work flexible hours and legally entitled to work in Canada
  • The candidates should possess a valid Class 5F Manitoba driver’s licence and have access to a vehicle for business purposes
  • The candidates should have the ability to work independently and ability to work in a team environment and ability to work in a culturally sensitive manner

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience with case management, for either youth or adults
  • The candidates should possess knowledge of Indigenous culture, history, and justice issues
  • The candidates should have effective interpersonal skills, effective written communication skills and effective verbal communication skills
  • The candidates should have the ability to speak an Indigenous language and assessment skills and effective intervention planning in a social services setting

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide alternatives to court action and incarceration for inmates and youth offenders
  • The candidates should be able to assist in reintegrating inmates and youth offenders into the community
  • The candidates should be able to develop opportunities for community involvement in community corrections and crime prevention
  • The candidates should be able to participate as team members in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all services delivered by the unit, including managing court orders
  • The candidates should be able to supervise inmates and youth offenders in the community by preparing court reports
  • The candidates should be able to provide and monitor the community justice program as an alternative to the formal court process
  • The candidates should be able to monitor the supervision of various community-based court orders, including Probation Orders, Conditional Sentences Orders, Community Service Orders, Fine Options, and behavior intervention programs
  • The candidates should be able to make a difference and provide a valuable service to Manitoba’s public safety
  • The candidates should be able to engage in an interesting, challenging, and rewarding career in justice
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to the effective management of public safety and community corrections
