Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a completed 1-year certificate in Social Sciences
Experience: Candidates should have 1 year of experience working with youth

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or provincial equivalent), with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending
  • The candidates should have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • The candidates should have experience using various Social Media platforms
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work under pressure, strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, and enhanced problem-solving skills for success in this role
  • The candidates should be aware that a security clearance will be conducted
  • The candidates should be aware that this position deals directly with clients of the Youth Employment Centre
  • The candidates should understand that there is potential for occasional exposure to verbal abuse or upset clients

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide front-line customer service to Youth Employment Centre (YEC) clients and natural supports
  • The candidates should be able to maintain records of the number of youths accessing the Resource Area
  • The candidates should be able to support clients looking to register for individual assistance
  • The candidates should be able to engage with clients dropping in to YEC about their job-search
  • The candidates should be able to work closely with clients in a large computer lab, providing support with resumes, cover letters, and job search
  • The candidates should be able to support clients in registering for approved industry training
  • The candidates should be able to research employers hiring online and provide updates to staff on jobs posted in the Resource Area
  • The candidates should be able to assist with the organization and execution of the Youth Hiring Fair and other special events
  • The candidates should be able to assist with administrative tasks including checking messages, printing, photocopying, and updating databases
