Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have degree in computer science or geography
Experience: Candidates should have four years’ experience as a Programmer Analyst, including two years’ GIS experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have successful completion of a two-year, post-secondary computer technology or GIS systems program plus six years’ experience as a Programmer Analyst, including three years’ GIS experience
  • The candidates should have experience working with ESRI products and possess considerable knowledge of GIS software and concepts, and proficiency in C#, Python, and JavaScript
  • The candidates should have considerable knowledge of Microsoft-related software and relational databases, such as Windows Server, SQL Server, and Office 365
  • The candidates should demonstrate considerable knowledge of client/server and n-tier development tools and methodologies
  • The candidates should exhibit considerable knowledge of structured programming and top-down program design and possess considerable knowledge of the operation and capabilities of computer architectures
  • The candidates should have knowledge of the principles and applications of data processing documentation and should demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments
  • The candidates should possess the ability to plan and prioritize their own work schedules in order to meet deadlines while working with limited supervision
  • The candidates should have demonstrated skill in application and database development and demonstrate skill in providing customer service, dealing effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of customers
  • The candidates should exhibit skill in critical thinking and problem-solving

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to develop, enhance, maintain, and support centralized and departmental computing systems
  • The candidates should be able to support the Corporate Geographic Information System (GIS) through the development of tools, system testing, data conversion, troubleshooting, and maintaining the GIS environment
  • The candidates should be able to prepare proposals and recommendations for management action
  • The candidates should be able to support and implement computer-based systems within the Corporation, write and modify computer programs using the appropriate development and support tools
  • The candidates should be able to prepare test data to verify the accuracy and completeness of new and modified systems, jobs, and programs
  • The candidates should be able to prepare and modify system, job, program, and operating documentation according to Corporate standards
  • The candidates should be able to maintain current working knowledge of major automated systems and general knowledge of others
  • The candidates should be able to respond to and resolve system and production failures and able to conduct and support training seminars as required
  • The candidates should be able to provide advice and guidance to less experienced staff and be able to maintain current knowledge of computer operating procedures and standards
  • The candidates should be able to assist with the development of, and adhere to, Corporate Information Services procedures and standards
