Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Degree in Civil Engineering
Experience: Candidates should have minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in the environmental assessment, design and construction of municipal works and contract administration

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to change

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be a Registered Professional Engineer with PEO or equivalent, PMP designation and experience with BRT and LRT
  • The candidates should have experience with various delivery models, including Design-Bid-Build, Design Build, and Transit Oriented Development
  • The candidates should have experience in directly supervising staff assigned on a project basis and experience with project control functions
  • The candidates should be strong team players with an understanding of new construction techniques and developing industry trends
  • The candidates should possess strong negotiation and facilitation skills, with the ability to find collaborative solutions and strong project management and contract administration skills as evidenced by successful interactions with contractors and consultants
  • The candidates should have strong strategic and analytical skills, balanced with a pragmatic, results-oriented approach and possess exceptional written, verbal, and team communication skills
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to initiate and execute projects using sound project management principles, practices, and theories and judgment and decision-making skills, able to determine effective courses of action to drive progression
  • The candidates should exhibit tact and diplomacy in dealings with internal and external stakeholders, including members of Council, the public, and community groups
  • The candidates should have leadership competencies in strategic agility, business acumen, communication and relationship building, developing culture and people, and driving change
  • The candidates should hold a valid Ontario Class ‘G’ driver’s license and have a reliable vehicle for corporate business use

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to work with and/or support project managers on various project activities throughout the full lifecycle of engineering projects
  • The candidates should be able to manage project consultants, contractors, vendors, project teams, related meetings, and project budgets effectively
  • The candidates should be able to coordinate inputs and gather feedback from various internal and external subject matter experts and stakeholders
  • The candidates should be able to ensure coordinated and consistent reporting of issues and communications at all levels, managing large and complex sets of stakeholders and constituencies, including government-related agencies, City departments, and external consultants
  • The candidates should be able to coordinate and supervise all stages of work to ensure contract documents are compiled accurately, providing clear instruction and direction to staff
  • The candidates should be able to administer construction contracts to ensure terms are fulfilled as per agreements
  • The candidates should be able to assist in project control activities such as risk management, cost control, schedule management, and document management
  • The candidates should be able to prepare technical and corporate reports for Council and collaborate with communication teams in responding to various requests for information from citizens, staff, and members of Council
  • The candidates should be able to provide document management support for the team, ensuring all project-related documents are organized, accessible, and up to date
