Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Engineering Technology from a recognized technical institution
Experience: Candidates should have experience in the electrical design of building security, life safety, fire alarm, and lighting systems
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be legally entitled to work in Canada, provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- The candidates should possess and maintain a full-stage Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License
- The candidates should be willing and able to travel within the province by air or land, with overnight stays
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have experience reviewing construction-related designs, drawings, and specifications
- The candidates should have experience preparing construction-related electrical designs, drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD software
- The candidates should have knowledge of Canadian codes, standards, and engineering principles related to electrical design and construction
- The candidates should have effective interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts
- The candidates should be able to organize and prioritize their workload to meet competing deadlines and strong written and verbal communication skills
- The candidates should have extensive technical experience in the relevant consulting engineering field, such as design and contract administration
- The candidates should have knowledge of preparing electrical cost estimates and cost analysis at various stages of the design process
- The candidates should have experience managing projects from concept to completion and plan and execute assigned duties systematically and efficiently with some supervision
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to design electrical systems under the guidance of a senior Engineer, Technologist, including preparing, interpreting, and reviewing technical drawings, designs, and feasibility studies
- The candidates should be able to conduct cost analyses, estimates, and create tender documents while ensuring the technical designs and specifications follow established engineering practices and applicable codes
- The candidates should be able to assist in project coordination and inspection of assigned projects using project management principles and standard contract administration practices
- The candidates should be able to identify and resolve administrative and technical problems throughout the project by maintaining regular communication with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders
- The candidates should be able to perform site visits to inspect and monitor the construction of assigned projects, preparing inspection, deficiency reports and recommending the acceptance of work on behalf of the client and the Department
