Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of a high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have 6 years of practical or general experience in the mentioned trades
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be available to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in all weather conditions
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have or general equivalency diploma (GED) and a valid driver’s license
- The candidates should possess one of the following: Red Seal in Heavy-Duty Mechanics, Automotive Technician, Agriculture Equipment Technician, Truck and Transport Technician, Recreation Vehicle Service Technician, or Industrial Mechanic (Millwright); or have possess a Unifor Local 101R card
- The candidates should be able to pass the required written examinations, and read and understand safety instructions, rules, regulations, and other written or printed material in English
- The candidates should have a proven dedication to safety and the ability to complete work within guidelines and rules
- The candidates should have strong communication skills, including the ability to provide clear and concise instructions and directions
- The candidates should be able to undergo a criminal history check, provide education verification and provide drivers license verification
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to maintain, inspect, service, test, and repair all systems on locomotives, mobile equipment, and vehicles used in plant, yard, and road service
- The candidates should be able to diagnose diesel engine malfunctions and make repairs within regulatory and company guidelines
- The candidates should be able to complete work in accordance with blueprints, schematic drawings, and service manuals
- The candidates should be able to perform non-structural welding, adjustment, and calibration of mechanical components and construct mechanical assemblies
- The candidates should be able to maintain low voltage repairs on locomotive electrical systems and evaluate parts for reuse, repair, or replacement
- The candidates should be able to service locomotive cabs, including cleaning cab walls, toilets, windows, and floors
- The candidates should be able to operate equipment such as overhead or mobile cranes, forklifts, and hand tools
