Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have appropriate current certificate of competence and registered/eligible for registration with the Approved Professional Institutions for the province
Experience: Candidates should have previous similar experience in Community or long-term care

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to work individually and as part of a team, with the capability to prioritize tasks in order of urgency

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have developed creative problem-solving skills to look at the big picture and excellent communication and comprehension skills
  • The candidates should have access to a reliable vehicle for community home care

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to enhance the effective management and quality of nursing practice daily in keeping with the standards and expectations set out by governing bodies and internal policies and standards of care and ensure resident/patient care is provided with established nursing standards and principles, physicians’ orders, and administrative policies
  • The candidates should be able to assist in the assessment and monitoring of residents/patients while working to develop, implement, review, and evaluate resident/patient care plans
  • The candidates should be able to manage and evaluate the work of nursing and personal care staff assigned to the unit, including orientations and other supervisory duties
  • The candidates should be able to monitor performance, conduct performance appraisals, and refer problems to the Director of Care
  • The candidates should be able to provide direction to the nursing department in the absence of the Director of Care
