Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have complete an accredited nursing program
Experience: Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience working as a nurse

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work a repeatable shift rotation, which involves working 5 days one week (Monday to Thursday), off on Friday, working Saturday, off Sunday and Monday, and working Tuesday to Friday, with weekends off on Saturday and Sunday
  • The candidates should be able to lift weights up to 10 kg (22 lbs.) as part of the physical requirements for the role

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to maintain a current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the province
  • The candidates should have additional certification in First Aid and CPR and previous experience as a preceptor or in coaching others
  • The candidates should have technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook, and the ability to learn new systems and programs
  • The candidates should be able to speak a second language, which would be considered an asset to support a positive donor experience

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to effectively communicate with donors, conducting registration and confidential screening to assess eligibility while promoting a positive donor experience
  • The candidates should be able to provide donors with detailed information, instruction, and advice on plasma donation and other ways to contribute to Canada’s Lifeline
  • The candidates should be able to offer coaching and consultation to donor centre staff, supporting donor education and enhancing overall team performance
  • The candidates should be able to assist in plasma collection, performing venipuncture according to established standards, while completing various processes that require strong communication skills
  • The candidates should be able to ensure the accuracy and completeness of information in multiple systems and processes, including screening, collection, and product storage, as well as preparing samples for testing and packaging products for shipment
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to continuous improvement efforts by implementing best practices and supporting the development of a framework for enhancing team performance
