Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language

Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to stand for long periods of time while providing direct, in-person interpretation. Filing may also require long periods of standing and bending
  • The candidates should be prepared to be exposed to infectious and communicable diseases, as well as other environmental hazards associated with working in a health care environment
  • The candidates should be able to handle exposure to death or dying, emergency medical situations, challenging client encounters, and other emotionally difficult experiences
  • The candidates should be capable of relaying a diagnosis to patients and their families, and be present in emotionally disturbing situations, all while maintaining patient confidentiality

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a Secondary School Diploma or a certificate or diploma in Office Administration
  • The candidates should be fluent in the Tlicho language, with interpreter or translator training and provide proof of immunizations as required for the role
  • The candidates should have knowledge of medical terminology and medical specialization in a health care setting
  • The candidates should be familiar with generally accepted office management practices and TłįchÇ«/English interpretation and translation practices and possess knowledge of nonviolent crisis intervention techniques
  • The candidates should understand the roles and responsibilities of health and social service providers, as well as the services they provide
  • The candidates should be able to acquire knowledge of the NT Healthcare system, culture, and geography
  • The candidates should be able to translate and interpret with accuracy, paying great attention to detail even in stressful situations
  • The candidates should be able to establish and maintain productive working relationships and participate effectively as a member of an integrated service delivery team

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to apply knowledge of NIHB policies and procedures and provide assistance
  • The candidates should be able to proofread printed materials, including posters, pamphlets, and translated materials, and submit them to NIC or a designated person for approval
  • The candidates should be able to word process, prepare, organize, copy, and print documents, correspondence, tables, graphics, reports, minutes, pamphlets, and conference or workshop materials
  • The candidates should be able to obtain files, documents, and other relevant information for the Health Services programs’ professional and management staff
  • The candidates should be able to receive and deliver telephone calls, faxes, electronic messages via EMR, and regular mail, directing them to the appropriate staff
  • The candidates should be able to organize and participate in meetings and committees, contributing ideas and taking notes as directed by the Nurse in Charge
  • The candidates should be able to utilize EMR to register patients, confirm client identification, update demographic information, and scan and link incoming patient documentation
  • The candidates should be able to utilize EMR to facilitate client scheduling, appointment notifications, confirmations, and practitioner notifications
  • The candidates should be able to assist with completing medical travel documentation, patient notifications, and appointment confirmations or rescheduling in consultation with the Nurse in Charge and Medical Travel Clerk
  • The candidates should be able to ensure the availability of incoming patient records within the EMR by scanning all incoming information accurately and efficiently
