Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be legally entitled to work in Canada and provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check
  • The candidates should provide a satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check and provide a satisfactory Adult Abuse Registry Check
  • The candidates should have the ability to interpret and apply the Canada Income Tax Act and Canada Revenue Agency procedures and the ability to pay attention to detail and ensure the accuracy of their work
  • The candidates should possess excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet strict deadlines and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have extensive experience preparing and filing Canadian T1 income tax forms
  • The candidates should have experience analyzing financial and tax documents and experience using Canadian Professional Tax Preparation Software ProFile
  • The candidates should have experience dealing with confidential information and using discretion in handling sensitive material
  • The candidates should have excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with other departmental staff, external agencies, other professionals, and the general public
  • The candidates should have excellent verbal communication skills and computer experience with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and Outlook) or equivalent applications
  • The candidates should have experience preparing and filing Canadian T3 income tax forms

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to follow the direction of the Chief Financial Officer and Income Tax Clerk regarding the Public Guardian and Trustee of Manitoba procedures and workflow
  • The candidates should be able to file current year income tax returns and complete all required tax forms in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency guidelines and other applicable legislation
  • The candidates should be able to reconcile returns to notices of assessments, prepare and file extensive T1/T3 returns for individuals, businesses, and deceased estates
  • The candidates should be able to submit an application form and resume to be considered for this competition
