Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of 3-year college diploma
Experience: Candidates should have at least 7 years of experience as a security operative

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a university degree in a related field such as security studies, investigations, law enforcement, criminal justice, sociology, or psychology
  • The candidates should have Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training, a Class G Ontario driver’s license, Standard First Aid and CPR certification, and be Dual Licenses Security Guard or Investigator certified
  • The candidates should ideally hold certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Certified Protection Officer (CPO), Security Supervision and Management (CSSM), Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA), Counter Terrorism Information Officer (CTIO), Associate Protection Professional (APP), and Interview and Investigation Techniques Certification
  • The candidates should have including demonstrated experience with incident investigations and critical decision-making in emergency situations and prepared for a criminal background check
  • The candidates should be familiar with security systems, including video surveillance, intrusion, and distress systems and experience in team facilitation, instruction, or training
  • The candidates should have knowledge of safety and security industry standards and practices, as well as emergency management principles, fire prevention, and life safety codes
  • The candidates should be competent with incident management databases and computer operations Word, Excel, Email, PowerPoint and security hardware and software

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to support strategic security initiatives of the institution by facilitating and improving systems, programs, and processes, and share on-call duties with the remainder of the administrative team on a rotation
  • The candidates should be able to act as a security technology and infrastructure adviser to the Sheridan community, ensuring compliance and applying knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, codes, and standards, and lead the Security Infrastructure working group
  • The candidates should be able to provide front-line security operations to the Sheridan community by assessing and responding to emergency or crisis situations, liaising with first responders, performing incident investigations, and reporting
  • The candidates should be able to coordinate contracted security staff through daily quality control, providing direction, and monitoring performance
  • The candidates should be able to promote community or campus safety through events, training, and information sessions, and contribute to educational programs and initiatives
  • The candidates should be able to prepare and maintain records, reports, data, and provide input to the development of policies and procedures
