Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Graduation from an accredited university with a degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
Experience: Candidates should have experience in asset management, experience with procurement

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be willing to travel throughout the Western and Labrador Regions

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have knowledge of building planning, programming, and engineering and knowledge of design-build and design-bid-build projects
  • The candidates should have knowledge of facility, wastewater, and water system management and knowledge of road construction
  • The candidates should have knowledge of asset management, knowledge of procurement methods and analytical skills
  • The candidates should have project management skills and demonstrate professionalism and possess a valid Province of Newfoundland and Labrador Class 05 license
  • The candidates should provide a recent and satisfactory Driver’s Abstract and registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with a Canadian Professional Engineering Association
  • The candidates should have membership or immediate eligibility for membership as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland (PEGNL)

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform highly responsible and complex professional engineering work in the field of planning, design, and construction associated with new and existing municipal facilities
  • The candidates should be able to analyze and recommend solutions to engineering problems in relation to project function, economics, adherence to applicable codes, and applicable construction regulations
  • The candidates should be able to visit construction sites to ensure adherence to design specifications and approved design changes that may become apparent or necessary as construction advances
  • The candidates should be able to provide support to the development of the municipal capital asset management framework
  • The candidates should be able to participate in conferences and deliver presentations to the municipal sector and assist with similar duties for the Labrador region
