Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of a degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
Experience: Candidates should have experience delivering solutions following a software development methodology
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should provide a recent and satisfactory Criminal Records Certificate from the local police
- The candidates should be willing to accept on-call responsibilities and willing to work overtime
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to manage time and tasks effectively and demonstrate the ability to think critically
- The candidates should have the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have significant experience in application development, of a progressively responsible nature, in PowerBuilder, PHP, and PL/SQL in a highly complex technical environment
- The candidates should have experience with database technologies including Oracle and SQL Server
- The candidates should have experience deploying and maintaining Sage applications experience and with the Support Enforcement Program provided by the Department of Justice and Public Safety for the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador
- The candidates should possess significant knowledge and experience in software development technologies including PowerBuilder, PHP, and PL/SQL
- The candidates should have knowledge of software development methodologies and best practices
- The candidates should have knowledge and experience with both Oracle and SQL Server relational databases
- The candidates should have knowledge of deploying and maintaining Sage applications and ability to coach and mentor others
- The candidates should demonstrate a demonstrated commitment to excellent client service and effective stakeholder engagement and demonstrate the ability to effectively exchange information
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to perform high-level analysis to design, develop, and implement efficient system solutions to meet business needs
- The candidate should be able to direct upgrades and enhancements on production systems and engage with users and key stakeholders concerning system requests
- The candidate should be able to collaborate with team members and other OCIO technical groups
- The candidate should be able to troubleshoot and resolve critical system issues to ensure performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications
- The candidate should be able to develop functional and system design specifications based upon wireframes, business requirements, and published standards accessibility and security
- The candidate should be able to stay current with best practices to drive continuous improvement, innovation, and the implementation of security and data protection measures
- The candidate should be able to design and complete software testing unit, functional, automated, performance, and integration to verify code accuracy and completeness
- The candidate should be able to ensure change management processes and procedures are followed for the implementation of solutions
- The candidate should be able to conduct quality and peer reviews to ensure high-quality technical deliverables and documentation and and mentor junior resources
