Saigon Maxim based in Calgary, AB is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Server – food and beverage services. Saigon Maxim is a popular Vietnamese restaurant renowned for its authentic cuisine and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring traditional Vietnamese dishes such as pho, banh mi, spring rolls, and various noodle and rice dishes. Salary: $15.00 to $16.00 hourly (To be negotiated) for 60 to 88 hours bi-weekly

Shifts: Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, Shift, To be determined, Early Morning, Morning
Transportation information: Own vehicle, Valid driver’s licence, and Public transportation is available
Work setting: Restaurant

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English or Vietnamese Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualification such as degree, certificate or diploma
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience, training will be provided
Computer and technology knowledge: Point of sale system 
Credentials: Food Safety Certificate and ProServe program
Own tools/equipment: Uniform

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to bend, crouch, and kneel, as well as work in a fast-paced environment and handle heavy loads
  • The candidates should be able to perform physically demanding tasks and stand for extended periods, and they should be able to work under pressure
  • The candidates should be able to lift up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs)

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have client focus and efficient interpersonal skills, along with excellent oral communication
  • The candidates should be flexible and show initiative, as well as be organized and reliable
  • The candidates should be a team player

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to be of legal age to mix and serve alcoholic beverages, address customers’ complaints or concerns, and enforce provincial/territorial liquor legislation and regulations
  • They should also be able to prepare and serve specialty food at customers’ tables, present bills and accept various forms of payment, describe menu items and daily specials, and advise on menu selections
  • Additionally, they should clear and clean tables, trays, and chairs, greet patrons, present menus, make recommendations, answer questions regarding food and beverages, order and maintain inventory of wines and glassware, serve food and beverages, take orders, relay them to kitchen and bar staff, and provide exceptional customer service
