Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of completed Grade 10
Experience: Candidates should have less than 3 months of experience working with the public

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should display initiative, reliability, and flexibility

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a current Standard First Aid certificate, a current CPR – 2-rescuer certificate, a current AED Operator certificate and completed AODA Customer Service/IASR Training
  • The candidates should demonstrate knowledge of computers, software applications, and the ability to develop an understanding of corporate computerized registration booking software
  • The candidates should have knowledge of general office and administrative procedures, word processing skills
  • The candidates should develop a working knowledge of the Department’s facilities and programs to make appropriate referrals to other sites and knowledge of corporate computer software
  • The candidates should have good communication and interpersonal skills and meet various language requirements based on the location, including English only, French only, or bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing, while others require French oral, reading, and writing
  • The candidates should be able to complete a Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction
  • The candidates should under the age of 18 require a Criminal Record and Judicial Matters check instead of a Vulnerable Sector Check and police record checks completed by a third-party company

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to support the assigned Recreation Facility or Arts Centre with programs such as day camps and swimming lessons
  • The candidates should be able to handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently and provide excellent customer service by assisting residents and visitors with program information and registration
  • The candidates should be able to support program delivery by ensuring smooth operations and assisting instructors
  • The candidates should be able to perform general administrative tasks to support the facility’s operations
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to a healthy, inclusive, and vibrant community by promoting access to recreation and cultural programs
