Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualifications
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to effectively work individually and as part of a diverse team
  • The candidates should be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers
  • The candidates should have the ability to follow through and carry out assignments

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have high-level skills in maintenance and repair procedures, including preventive maintenance, breakdown repair, troubleshooting, construction, installations, and fabrication techniques typical in the trade
  • The candidates should be able to perform mathematical computations related to the trade
  • The candidates should have knowledge of the proper use and maintenance of hand and power tools related to the job function, read and interpret blueprints and system diagrams
  • The candidates should have knowledge of building codes, a creative approach to problem-solving and knowledge of hazards involved with the work and safety measures to be taken
  • The candidates should have an aptitude for science and mathematics, knowledge of FMP Policies and Procedures, read and write English
  • The candidates should have a valid Journeyman Sheet Metal Worker License for the Province of Ontario
  • The candidates should have including the apprenticeship training program, which consists of 8,280 hours of on-the-job work experience and 720 hours of in-school training

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to fabricate, install, maintain, and repair air handling systems and ductwork on campus
  • The candidates should be able to work under the supervision of the Manager, Mechanical Services
  • The candidates should be able to ensure the proper functioning and efficiency of air handling systems and ductwork through routine maintenance and repairs
