Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be 23 or older
- The candidates should be capable of safely operating and maneuvering trucks, trailers, or shunting equipment in a busy distribution or warehouse environment
- The candidates should hook and unhook trailers, which involves bending, lifting, and maneuvering heavy equipment
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess an AZ/Class 1 Driver’s License
- The candidates should adhere to safety regulations, follow proper procedures for vehicle inspections, and ensure the safe movement of trailers within the distribution or warehouse yard
- The candidates should have effective communication for coordinating movements with other drivers, warehouse staff, and management to ensure efficient and safe shunting operations
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to ensure the timely and efficient processing of all customer orders by placing or removing trailers to and from designated areas. This includes opening and closing trailer doors as required, creating and updating a daily yard check and shunt log, and attaching trailer seals
- The candidates should be able to demonstrate good judgment when checking trailers and maintaining the shunt truck and ensure that yard rules are followed at all times, have a good understanding of and comply with all SOPs and Health & Safety guidelines, and maintain a clean environment
- The candidates should be able to suggest improvements to reduce hazards and prevent reoccurrences and should check and operate reefers and heated trailers and weigh yard trailers using the on-site truck scale
- The candidates should be able to build LCV trailer and B-Train trailer combinations and moving oversize trailers within the yard (LCV or 60′ Trailers) and communicate regularly with the Team Leader and Desk Clerks concerning operations
