Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have graduates of a resource-based or emergency management program from a recognized college or university
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be legally entitled to work in Canada and possess and maintain a valid full-stage Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s Licence
- The candidates should be willing and able to work evenings, weekends, and overtime and be physically able to perform the duties assigned to the position
- The candidates should be willing and able to travel throughout the Province of Manitoba as required, including frequent flights in a wide variety of small aircraft under adverse weather conditions, with the ability to stay overnight
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have experience in wildfires, including emergency management best practices, wildfire operations, prevention, mitigation, and incident management
- The candidates should possess strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to find creative solutions to issues and implement change
- The candidates should have experience supervising and leading staff and experience in financial management, such as managing budgets for operational and program resources
- The candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- The candidates should demonstrate strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences and demonstrate strong written communication skills
- The candidates should have experience providing strategic advice to senior leaders on complex topics and sensitive issues while demonstrating political acumen and experience in the design and implementation of policies and programs
- The candidates should have knowledge of legislation and acts applicable to wildfires and experience translating strategic priorities into clear operational and business plans, including using performance management and measurement systems Key Performance Indicators, Balanced Scorecards
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to implement key aspects of the regional wildfire management program, including prevention, detection, pre-suppression, and suppression operations
- The candidates should be able to coordinate operations in the Regional Fire Centre, Fire Warehouse, and Mechanics Shop, ensuring efficient and effective workflows
- The candidates should be able to oversee regional training programs to ensure personnel are adequately prepared for wildfire management tasks
- The candidates should be able to manage the procurement of goods and services required to support regional operations in alignment with budgetary and operational guidelines
- The candidates should be able to coordinate resource prioritization and strategic deployment to ensure cost-effective utilization of all assigned resources
