Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Degree in Civil, Water Resources or Environmental Engineering
Experience: Candidates should have minimum of two years of progressive experience in municipal stormwater engineering and planning

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario
  • The candidates should have a minimum of two years of progressive experience in municipal stormwater engineering and planning, including site-specific, community, watershed, or municipality-wide studies and infrastructure projects related to flood control, water quality, linear infrastructure, and creek rehabilitation
  • The candidates should demonstrate experience in Municipal Class Environmental Assessment, project management, and stakeholder consultation
  • The candidates should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary to prepare reports and presentations to staff, external agencies, consultants, stakeholders, members of the public, and Council
  • The candidates should demonstrate strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to lead, develop, implement, and manage multidisciplinary projects and programs
  • The candidates should be proficient with common office computer software, including MS-Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS-Project, or equivalent. Experience with database, GIS, and hydrologic or hydraulic modelling software
  • The candidates should be able to attend project site visits and meetings within the City of Mississauga and the GTA

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to lead studies and capital projects related to stormwater infrastructure planning and design, including flood control, water quality, linear infrastructure, and creek rehabilitation
  • The candidates should be able to procure and manage contracts and deliverables of consultants on stormwater-related studies and design projects
  • The candidates should be able to coordinate with consultants and internal and external stakeholders to ensure that project deliverables and schedules are met
  • The candidates should be able to follow corporate guidelines and best practices for project management, including the preparation of project charters, project management plans, project schedules, and progress reports
  • The candidates should be able to provide specialized engineering input as required to other sections and divisions on matters related to stormwater issues and policies
  • The candidates should be able to provide engineering input and recommendations, as required, in the preparation of the Stormwater Business Plan and Budget
  • The candidates should be able to prepare written correspondence, reports, and presentations to internal and external clients, including residents, regulatory agencies, and Council
  • The candidates should be able to participate and represent the section, division, department or city on internal and external working groups and committees
  • The candidates should be able to keep current on best practices, standards, regulations, and technologies related to stormwater and project management
