Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a 4-year degree in Communications, Marketing, Publishing, English, or a related field with an emphasis on written communication
Experience: Candidates should have have 5 years of recent related experience in researching, writing, and editing copy

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have related experience in creating content across various media, including print, social, and digital media (e.g., email, website, online ads)
  • The candidates should possess a knowledge base within the specialized field of communications, focusing on rules, procedures (e.g., print or digital production), and methods, with equivalency considered
  • The candidates should have experience in creating communications for a post-secondary student audience
  • The candidates should demonstrate a genuine interest in the post-secondary (PS) student learning experience and student success
  • The candidates should have essential skills for the candidates include excellent writing, proofreading, editing, research, and grammatical abilities
  • The candidates should have demonstrated success in coordinating cross-functional groups
  • The candidates should exhibit good judgment, initiative, and creative problem-solving skills within a team environment
  • The candidates should have intermediate experience with content creation methods and best practices for varying channels (print, multimedia, infographics, web, email, blogs, social media) is required
  • The candidates should have intermediate to advanced skills working with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, and Bridge), as well as proficiency in email distribution software
  • The candidates should have intermediate to advanced working knowledge of digital brand management template platforms, such as Canva, is required
  • The candidates should possess intermediate to advanced skills in web search/navigation tools for keyword research, content management systems (CMS), customer relations management systems (CRM) – ideally Salesforce, and email service providers

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to manage and contribute to a comprehensive communication activity schedule/content calendar, ensuring alignment and integration across Sheridan’s student-facing channels
  • The candidate should be able to support the creation of engaging and student-centric communications, including the weekly student newsletter, posts on Sheridan’s intranet, and social media content. This involves gathering information of interest to prospective and current students and stakeholders, such as current student promotions and alumni engagement
  • The candidate should be able to contribute ideas and information to support the planning of communications and marketing campaigns for Student Affairs (SA), Career Integrated Learning (CIL), and enrollment needs across SEEM
  • The candidate should be able to contribute student-centric news releases and stories to the Sheridan Newsroom by interviewing and profiling key stakeholders, working closely with SEEM managers, and attending special events
  • The candidate should be able to provide communications guidance and develop content in support of Sheridan’s emerging student experience integration model
  • The candidate should be able to utilize target audience personas and data intelligence to create communications content that is targeted with calls-to-action in a coordinated and brand-consistent manner across Student Affairs, Career Integrated Learning, and in all student engagement activities across the SEEM division
  • The candidate should be able to report on communications and marketing campaigns using Customer Relationship Management suite (CRM), Google Analytics, email analytics, Facebook Insights, and other tools as appropriate
  • The candidate should be able to perform other related duties as assigned
