Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates must be registered as a full-time secondary or post secondary student in an accredited institution, or currently recognized as having full-time status by the academic institution but applying for a school vacation, practicum or work term
Experience: Candidates should have G2 driver’s license with 3 years of driving experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to perform general cleaning and maintenance duties
  • The candidates should be able to frequently stand, walk, bend, and stoop during work
  • The candidates should be able to lift, handle, and carry equipment, supplies, and materials weighing up to 23 kg

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be knowledgeable of reading, writing, and arithmetic skills, plus have one year of general labour experience
  • The candidates should be knowledgeable about the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • The candidates should have the ability to communicate effectively with staff and members of the public
  • The candidates should have functional knowledge of the safe operation and use of equipment related to job duties
  • The candidates should have the ability to read and apply safety information and follow policies and procedures
  • The candidates must have a valid G driver’s license and an acceptable driving record to operate corporate vehicles
  • The candidates should have the ability to support and project values compatible with the organization

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform general litter control, landscaping, and maintenance duties on landfill sites, facilities, and properties
  • The candidates should be able to assist customers with unloading Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) at the HHW depot and assist with preparing HHW for disposal
  • The candidates should be able to work outdoors at Regional landfill sites and properties; follow Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures, and use personal protective equipment (e.g., raingear, protective clothing or safety equipment, gloves, safety boots, safety glasses) to mitigate risks associated with heat, cold, rain, wind, dust, noise, odors from the landfill, hazardous or toxic waste
  • The candidates should be able to perform other related duties as assigned
