Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate capability to understand and apply relevant track standards and practice circulars
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work safely and have a clean safety or performance record

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should undergo a criminal history check, provide a reference check and consent to a driver’s license verification
  • The candidates should have a minimum of six years of continued progress and proven record in track work, which includes at least two of the following
  • The candidates should have five years working in Basic Track Maintenance, preferably as a Track Maintenance Foreman
  • The candidates should have two years’ work in Basic Track Maintenance in a main terminal area and two years working as Supervisor or Foreman of a large work crew
  • The candidates should have one or two years as a Machine Operator on various track machines and a valid driver’s license and experience in people leadership

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to ensure the application of CPKC safety practices, policies, and procedures by unionized employees
  • The candidates should be able to deliver regulatory compliance within the respective geographic territory, including Sudbury, to maintain a safe and compliant infrastructure
  • The candidates should be able to inspect tracks at required intervals, maintain proper inspection records, and track corrective actions for identified exceptions
  • The candidates should be able to set daily work priorities and objectives while making recommendations to the Roadmaster
  • The candidates should be able to ensure all maintenance performed complies with current standards and confirms tracks are safe for authorized train speeds or properly protected
  • The candidates should be able to organize and supervise the selective renewal of various track components
  • The candidates should be able to provide on-call support and response on a rotating cycle for incidents and emergencies, supporting 24/7 operations
  • The candidates should be able to execute work in a manner consistent with the labour agreement for track maintenance
