Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be a minimum of 15 years of age
- The candidates should be current Lifesaving Society Swim instructors, or have the ability to obtain certification within 1 month of the date of hire
- The candidates should be current Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor and Lifesaving Society Emergency First Aid Instructor
- The candidates should have current National Lifeguard – Pool or the ability to obtain certification within 1 month of the date of hire
- The candidates should have current Lifesaving Society Airway Management, or the ability to obtain certification within 1 month of the date of hire
- The candidates should have current Standard First Aid / CPR C from an accredited organization, or the ability to obtain certification within 1 month of the date of hire
- The candidates should have HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development or Sport Certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 2 months of the date of hire
- The candidates should have current National Lifeguard – Waterfront, or ability to obtain within 1 month of date of hire
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to plan, organize, and deliver high-quality, safe, and engaging swimming lessons for all levels of participants
- The candidates should be able to supervise participants and maintain complete vigilance to minimize risks, being ready to respond at all times
- The candidates should be able to ensure participants meet the minimum requirements of the Aquatic Admission Standards during all swims and able to ensure proper zone coverage and guard station positioning
- The candidates should be able to provide a high level of customer service, including greeting and engaging with participants
- The candidates should be able to communicate with participants regarding swimming lesson opportunities and accident prevention
- The candidates should be able to complete administrative duties in a timely manner such as attendance, incident/accident reports, opening and closing procedures
- The candidates should be able to maintain a safe and tidy program space, ensuring equipment is set up and stored appropriately
- The candidates should be able to report all concerns, accidents, and incidents to the immediate supervisor for follow-up and take appropriate action
- The candidates should be able to understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures, and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff
- The candidates should be able to attend meetings/training, Performs other duties and able to maintain an understanding of department programs and services
