Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a Physiotherapy Assistant Diploma from an approved college or a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology
Experience: Candidates should have a previous experience working in a long-term care environment would also be considered an asset
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have U-first training or a Dementia Care Course would be considered an asset
- The candidates should have knowledge of basic resident care practices and principles
- The candidates should have a passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services, and care is essential
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to prepare and administer individual and group physical therapy
- The candidates should be able to administer and assist residents with therapeutic intervention programs as developed by the PT and OT, such as range of motion, progressive resistive and stretching, ADLs
- The candidates should be able to assist residents in ambulation, with or without an ambulatory aid, under the direction of the Physiotherapist
- The candidates should be able to document according to policy and procedures (e.g. Daily Resident Care Record, resident progress notes, incident reporting, PPCA, Critical Incidents, etc.)
- The candidates should be able to observe and monitor residents’ response during treatment and respond accordingly to ensure safety; note conditions and progress for reporting to PT/OT
- The candidates should be able to maintain equipment inventory and assist with department audits, cleaning, and inspections
