Transportation information: Valid driver’s licence, Willing to travel cross-border, Willing to travel for extended periods, and Willing to travel overnight

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 7 months to less than 1 year
Communication systems experience: Citizens band (CB) radio, Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment, and Trip recorder (on-board computer)
Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports, Bill of lading, Driver logbook, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Trans-border documentation, and Trip reports
Type of trucking and equipment: Dry bulk, Flatbed, Refrigerated, and Tractor-trailer
Credentials: AZ class license and Air Brake (Z) Endorsement
Security and safety: Valid passport, Basic security clearance, Driver’s validity licence check, Driving record check (abstract), and Drug test

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to pay attention to detail and sit for extended periods

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should exercise judgment, should be organized, should be reliable
  • The candidate should work as a team player

Candidate Status:

  • Canadian citizens and permanent or temporary foreign workers of Canada are eligible for this position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions
  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate professionalism in customer service and drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
  • The candidates should be able to load and unload goods and oversee the condition of the vehicle, inspecting tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment
  • The candidates should be able to perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of the vehicle
  • The candidates should be able to perform preventive maintenance and receive and relay information to central dispatch
  • The candidates should be able to record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption
  • The candidates should be able to tarp and ensure the safety and security of cargo
